A is for Art and Design Hotel Lovers

The old tobacco warehouse that was converted into a hotel and today is considered a work of art

A for Art is a bold, non-conformist art design hotel, housed in a historic building of cultural significance, which was labelled “a work of art” by the Greek Ephorate of Contemporary and Modern Monuments. The building was erected in 1907 as a tobacco warehouse, and in 1935 it was converted into a hotel for the first time. Today, belonging to the Xenios Gate chain, it proudly carries the title of one of Greece’s most cutting-edge design hotels.

Poetics, painting, sculpture, music, and photography have been brought together to create an environment that is both daringly bold and truly elegant. A piano that is more than 100 years old beautifully matches the colorful and curvy furniture, and the old, austere lines of the building contrast the playful decoration and the works of art dotting the space. The hotel’s 39 rooms – each uniquely styled – have been made with dedication and a timeless aesthetic. Its gem of a restaurant offers haute cuisine, and its graceful bar serves original cocktails. There is a large outdoor swimming pool and an outstanding garden, where you can relax in mid-century Fer-Forge furniture, while you admire the various sculptures – which evoke classical Greece – adorning the outdoor space.

A for Art is very conveniently located near the old port at Limenas on the island of Thassos, near several fish tavernas and other traditional eateries. It is also a stone’s throw from important archaeological sites, such as the Ancient Agora, the Ancient Theatre and the Museum.

Having served guests with the art of hospitality for many years, Xenios Gate knows how important it is to invest in quality and originality. The hotel is fresh, innovative, and invites all art lovers to visit it and experience a unique holiday experience through art.
