Thessaloniki’s Aristotelous Square to Host Soccer Tournament

Children, refugees and homeless people will take part in the tournament that forms part of a broader campaign against social exclusion of vulnerable groups.


Aristotelous Square in the northern port city of Thessaloniki has been transformed into a playing field to host a soccer tournament Saturday as part of a campaign against social exclusion.

According to Christos Alefantis, the editor of the Greek street paper Schedia, the 14-minute games will take place between 11 a.m. and 2 p.m.

 

“We will be there to welcome our friends and send out a message against all forms of exclusion,” said Alefantis.

Teams taking part include homeless people, refugee children,volunteers, friends of Schedia magazine and members of the PAOK women’s soccer club.
