“Wiki Loves Monuments” shows 2,000+ Greek monuments

Over 2,700 photos of Greek monuments were submitted to the competition for the first time

More than 2,700 photos of Greek monuments have been posted on Wikimedia Commons during the international photo contest, “Wiki Loves Monuments”. Greece participated for the first time in the competition through the initiative of the Wikimedia user group Community User Group Greece.

Specifically, more than 130 photographers uploaded 2,720 photos until September 30, the contest’s closing day. The photo evaluation committee will select the best from among these. During the competition, three photo-walks were held in Athens, Thessaloniki and Corfu, in cooperation with various organizations and groups, in which the photographers had the opportunity to tour monuments in Greece and learn their history.
