An airbus operated by Aegean Airlines drew an enormous “200” in the skies above the Peloponnese on Wednesday to commemorate tomorrow’s bicentennial of the outbreak of the Greek War of Independence.

As can be seen in the AirNav flight path recorded on Radarbox, the special flight by Greece’s leading airline set off from Athens International Airport Eleftherios Venizelos at 10.12 in the morning. It then crossed the Saronic Gulf to reach the Peloponnese – where the Greek Revolution (“Epanastasi”) was declared exactly two centuries ago – over which it flew in the shape of an enormous “200”.

The Airbus 320 flew at an altitude of 20,000 feet over the regions of Argos, Corinth, Arcadia, Achaia and Ilia before returning to Athens to land at 12.02 pm.
