Corfu and Santorini Best Enjoyed in September

According to luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller, the Greek islands of Corfu and Santorini are ideal options for vacations in September.

Getaways in September. Once they may have sounded bizarre or not even that much fun, but thinking about the difficulties of today’s last-minute planning, as well as the heatwaves and the crowds during the summer high season, and September may seem like the ideal time for someone to travel.

London-based luxury travel magazine Conde Nast Traveller recently prepared a list of the top 25 destinations for September. Among the editors’ choices, which includes the usual mix of historic cities, picturesque rural areas and tropical islands, there are two Greek islands that feature in the list.

Corfu and Santorini are suggested among the ideal destinations for the so-called “shoulder season” of September-October. Blue seas and lush green hills are listed as the key features of Corfu at this time of year, as well as the steady growth in agrotourism, keeping old traditions and rural communities alive.

As for Santorini, the piercing blue sky, the white-washed Cycladic architecture and those iconic sunsets that paint the whole vista gold and rosy pink offer visitors to the island a unique experience. In September, tourists can enjoy these colours without the stress of overcrowding during high season.
