Greece’s Tourist Industry Wins German Award for Luxury Travel

The Greek tourism industry has something for everyone, including amazing hospitality facilities and services operating across the luxury travel sector, and it seems that this is no secret to the discerning German traveler.

This September, Greece received yet another international travel distinction, this time from the important German customer market, as it was voted this year’s best travel destination for luxury tourism at the inaugural “Inspire Me” Awards, sponsored by the German online business magazine “LuxusInsider.”

The votes were cast by the magazine’s readers, who are, for the most part, executives working within Germany’s luxury travel sector at travel agencies, travel sellers, tour operators, hotels, airlines and other stakeholders. The shortlist of nominees in each category was evaluated by a jury of experts from a number of tourism industry sectors.

The award was presented to the Head of the Greek National Tourism Office in Germany, Nikoleta Lekanidis, in the presence of that office’s deputy head, Areti Prinou, at a special event held on September 9th at the Business Club (Villa im Heine-Park) in Hamburg. During the event, Greek National Tourist Office representatives had the opportunity to network with selected representatives of the tourism market (including individuals from ITB Berlin and TUI) and the tourism newsgroup “FVW Medien.”

The organizers aim to establish the Inspire Me Awards as an annual feature of the German tourism market, with the aim of recognizing outstanding international destinations and honoring those companies and individuals who have made remarkable achievements in the field of luxury tourism.
