Naxos stands out in the preferences of Guardian readers among the European destinations praised for their white sands and crystal-clear waters. In addition to Greece, readers of the popular British newspaper highlighted beaches of exceptional natural beauty in Corsica, Western France, Croatia, Sweden, Gran Canaria, Calabria, Bodrum, and Catalonia.
According to the article, “Naxos has stunning beaches everywhere but there’s nothing like Kastraki. It has the softest white sand, which extends under the stunning, crystal-clear water that sometimes is the lightest blue, and sometimes turquoise.”

It’s also worth noting that Naxos recently received a prestigious international distinction at the latest Greek Travel Awards, held in London after the conclusion of the global WTM exhibition. Naxos earned this distinction through a thorough evaluation and voting process overseen by the Greek National Tourism Organization (GNTO). This achievement follows targeted initiatives by the Municipality of Naxos and the Small Cyclades, including a familiarization trip for specialized travel agents and journalists, organized in partnership with the GNTO’s UK office.
“Naxos has all the ingredients to win the hearts of international travelers, not only its unique beaches but also the range of alternative activities it offers. Each year, our invitation is warmly embraced by both Greek visitors and travelers from various international markets who discover in Naxos the authentic, breathtaking Cyclades they have long dreamed of ,” commented Vangelis Katsaras, Deputy Mayor of Tourism for Naxos and the Small Cyclades.
