A Hub of Hubs: The Platforms Project Art Fair 2019

Organized for the seventh consecutive year, Platforms Project draws artist groups and art spaces from all over the world.

The annual Platforms Project fair brings together art platforms (artist groups and art spaces) from all over the world.

This year, the art fair – which features exhibitions, performances, screenings, open talks and other events – will include 60 platforms from 17 countries. They’ll be represented by 700 artists, who will present their work at the “Nikos Kessanlis” Exhibition Hall of the Athens School of Fine Arts (ASFA) from May 16-19.

The Platforms Project has adopted an inclusive approach, keeping doors wide open to artists with pioneering ideas, and to alternative art forms. Promoting artists who otherwise would have limited chances to showcase their work internationally, the fair is also meant to help develop relationships between the platforms, and build a worldwide community.

The global network is slowly growing. Last year, 56 platforms presented their work at the art fair. This year, the 60 platforms were chosen from hundreds of applications.

Among the platforms selected to take part are representatives from Greece, Switzerland, Germany, the USA, the Netherlands, Cyprus, France, Sweden, Spain, Britain, Canada, Austria, Georgia, Finland, Serbia and Belgium. Visitor numbers are expected to rise as well. 16,000 people visited last year.

The event is directed by artistic director Artemis Potamianou and Michalis Argyrou.
