United Airlines Resume Flights Between Athens and New York

Seasonal flights between Athens and New York’s Newark airport have resumed, with direct flights to and from Washington D.C. starting next month.

The daily and direct seasonal connection between Athens and New York-Newark has been restarted by United Airlines. The flights are scheduled until October 29, and, from May 7, United’s daily direct flight to and from Washington D.C. will start.

“We are excited to return to Athens in 2022 with the resumption of direct flights from Greece to the United States,” said Bob Schumacher, United’s Sales Director. “With the return of flights to New York and from next month to Washington DC, our customers in Greece can benefit from direct connections to the US, as well as an unrivaled network of destinations from United’s airport hubs at New York-Newark and Washington Dulles, which offer convenient, direct connections to more than 95 destinations across the Americas. Starting in May, both flights will be operated by the Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft, offering our passengers top quality and comfort, as well as the United Polaris Suite and the United Premium Plus passenger cabin.”

“We are… ‘Re-United’ again and this makes us very happy! We welcome United Airlines back to Athens, with daily and direct, seasonal flights both to metropolitan New York from today and to Washington, the US capital, from next month,” said Ioanna Papadopoulou, Communications & Marketing Director at Athens International Airport.

“Even in the extremely difficult period of the pandemic, the United States market has shown great resilience and remains among our most popular and important markets, with the large and active Greek-American community always playing an important role in this. We wish you an extremely successful season at United and we remain by the side of our air partner as it continues to grow its Athens market!” Papadopoulou continued.

The United flight from Athens to New York-Newark is currently operated by Boeing 767-400 aircraft, with 39 United Polaris business class, 70 Economy Plus, and 131 economy seats. From May 7, 2022, Boeing 787-10 Dreamliner aircraft will take over the route, offering 44 Polaris business class seats, with select access, 21 United Premium Plus, 54 Economy Plus and 199 economy seats.

The United flight from Athens to Washington Dulles Airport will be operated by Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft, with 28 Polaris business class seats, 21 United Premium Plus, 36 Economy Plus and 158 economy seats on offer.
