Vote for Picasso and the Museum of Cycladic Art at the GFAA

The Museum of Cycladic Art's 2019 exhibition "Picasso and Antiquity. Line and Clay” has been nominated for a Global Fine Art Award.

With more than 60,000 visitors, the exhibition “Picasso and Antiquity. Line and Clay” held at the Museum of Cycladic Art in Athens in 2019 was a major hit. The exhibition displayed 68 items created Pablo Picasso between 1920 and 1960 and included ceramic sculptures and drawings representing birds, quadrupeds, human forms and mythological creatures, all put into “dialogue” alongside 67 antiquities.

The exhibition has been chosen as one of the 99 nominees from 27 countries for the 2019 Global Fine Art Awards (GFAA), which honor the best curated exhibitions from around the world, chosen after in-person visits and careful research.

This year, the public can also vote for its favorite exhibition; your votes will be accepted through May 7.

The Greek entry, “Picasso and Antiquity. Line and Clay,” is in the category “Best Fringe/ Alternative Exhibition” of the “Youniversal” (aka “People’s Choice”) Award. Its competitors include “Hockney – Van Gogh: The Joy of Nature” at the Van Gogh Museum in Amsterdam; “Artistic License: Six Takes on the Guggenheim Collection” at the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum; and “Oceania” at the Royal Academy of Arts and the Musée du Quai Brandly – Jacques Chirac.

The winners will be announced online on May 11, 2020.
