Peak wedding season is approaching, and with pandemic restrictions abolished, those looking to expand their pre-wedding parties to full weekends away have plenty of options in Greece.

Thessaloniki, Greece’s second largest city, is a great place for girlfriends to throw a bachelorette party, a recent investigation showed. Swimwear retailer Pour Moi looked at a number of aspects relevant for a traditional pre-wedding celebration, including the number of bars and clubs in each city, their instagramability, the likelihood of rain, the cost of wine and airbnbs – and even the prices at the local McDonald’s, in case of sudden cravings.

Thessaloniki was found to be Europe’s fifth best city for a bachelorette, boasting some of the cheapest Airbnbs in all of the top 20 (second only to Sofia) and affordable wine, while also being the sunniest destination of all on the list, with an average 3234 hours of sunshine per year.

“A fantastic destination for Instagram lovers, with so many beautiful sights, Thessaloniki offers incredible views, especially for sunset. Whilst it might not be the largest Greek city, it still has plenty to offer and makes the perfect setting for a girls’ trip away. Once the sunset shots have been captured, the city has plenty of nightlife to offer those looking for a fabulous night out with the girls,” the report read.

Athens also earned a spot on the list, ranking as the 10th best city to host a bachelorette.
