Every August, in cooperation with the Ministry of Culture and Sports, archeological sites, museums and monuments all around Greece extent their opening hours and offer free entrance during the evening of the full moon. This year will be no different, even though the full moon coincides with the celebration of the assumption of the Virgin Mary, on August 15.
This year, more than 100 special events, including many concerts, but also poetry recitals and performance art, will take place at the archaeological sites, monuments and museums around the country. Most of the events will take place on the evening of the 15th, while some will take place in the days leading up to, and following the full moon (August 11th until August 19th).
You can find many of the events in the program for the August full moon celebrations here.
