Mykonos and Santorini Top T+L World’s Best Awards

Travel + Leisure readers have given top billing to the two Cycladic islands, listing 8 out of 10 of their favorite hotel resort destinations there.

Every year for its World’s Best Awards survey, Travel + Leisure (T+L) magazine asks its readers to share their travel experiences around the globe – including their opinions on the top hotels, resorts, cities, islands, cruise ships, spas, airlines, and more.

“When it comes to Greece, readers clearly favor Mykonos and Santorini. In fact, eight of the 10 winners can be found on those two islands. There were only two outliers: the Sani Asterias (second place) in Halkidiki, and the Blue Palace Elounda (eighth place), A Luxury Collection Resort, in Crete,” the online magazine reported.

The Andronis hotel group made several appearances on the list, while two other hotel groups – the Katikies group and the Canaves group – also made strong showings.

T+L readers’ 10 best Greek island resort hotels

“The Grace Hotel, Auberge Resorts Collection, in Santorini, once again tops the list,” wrote T+L. It even improved on last year’s score — 99.22, up from 99.18,” writes Travel + Leisure, adding “it’s no surprise that this hotel received an almost perfect score.”

“The gorgeous property sits high up on a cliff in the village of Imerovigli; the location provides guests with jaw-dropping views of the sea and Skaros Rock. Though every vista point is spectacular, the best sunset view may be from the hotel’s infinity pool, which appears to be one with the surrounding sea. To experience the hotel at its best, book one of its luxury suites, which come with private plunge pools and oversize patios.”

These are the other nine hotels in the 10 best resorts, listed in order of T+L’s readers preferences, with a score out of 100:

Sani Asterias, Halkidiki, with a score of 97.87.
Canaves Oia Epitome, Santorini with a score of 97.41.
Katikies Santorini with a score of 96.24.
Katikies Mykonos with a score of 95.29.
Canaves Oia Boutique Hotel, Santorini with a score of 94.39.
Andronis Boutique Hotel, Santorini, with a score of 93.62.
Blue Palace Elounda, A Luxury Collection Resort, Crete, with a score of 93.45.
Andronis Luxury Suites, Santorini with a score of 92.52.
Cavo Tagoo, Mykonos with a score of 89.18.
