Nefeli Nine Retreat: A Wonderful Week of Slowing...

Ktima Bellou
Three hundred walnut, quince, sour cherry, and cherry trees stretch alongside fields of potatoes and beans. The air is filled with the scent of oregano and mountain tea, as well as the sounds of chickens and sheep. The Bellou family has revived their 70-acre ancestral estate, transforming it into a complete agritourism experience. The seven rooms and five residences adhere to traditional Macedonian architectural forms, opening onto views of the western slopes of Mount Olympus. Heating is provided by infrared ceiling panels, the fireplaces are energy-efficient, and the curtains are embroidered with traditional patterns from the Benaki Museum. The restaurant is supplied with produce from the estate’s organic crops and, whenever possible, with raw materials sourced from the surrounding area.
Unedo All Seasons Boutique Hotel
For Ioakeim Vasiliadis, Unedo All Seasons Boutique Hotel represents a long-held dream realized: leaving the city behind to build a life rooted in nature. Completed two years ago in Palaios Panteleimonas, the project marked his family’s move from Thessaloniki to the countryside.
Located at the entrance of the village on a two-acre plot with dramatic changes in elevation, the hotel comprises a series of stone-built structures housing 11 suites. Panoramic views stretch across the Olympus coastline, while interiors balance modern comfort with rustic elegance. Some suites feature fireplaces, others private outdoor hot tubs. The name “Unedo” is drawn from Arbutus unedo, the strawberry tree that flourishes in the Pieria landscape; an apt symbol of the property’s deep connection to place.

Rice pudding still warm from the pot, free-range eggs, French toast, and traditional Epirus pies with handmade filo pastry are just some of the treats served at breakfast at Pindos Resort, run by Babis Foufas and his family.
The resort’s greatest asset, however, is its location. The guesthouse’s stone buildings are nestled within a dense pine forest that creates an atmosphere of deep calm and seclusion. In addition to double rooms and suites, the resort also offers a five-person villa and a spacious 85-sq.m. chalet that can accommodate up to six guests.
This is one of the first areas in Greece to see snowfall, and the resort is exactly where you’ll want to be when the cold sets in. Each of its wooden chalets spans 100 square meters and is constructed from Finnish-type timber, featuring an energy-efficient fireplace, a fully equipped kitchen, and a living area with a large television.
Enjoying the outdoor jacuzzi as snow falls is an unforgettable experience, and breakfast can be served in the chalet upon request. The resort is just 11 kilometers from the Falakro Ski Center.
