The Acropolis Museum and the City of Athens Culture, Sport & Youth Organization (OPANDA) are presenting an evening of music, performed by the City of Athens Philharmonic Orchestra in the museum’s entrance courtyard, on August 26.
Visitors will be taken on a musical journey through what is referred to by the organizers as the “nostalgic world of Greek cinema”. Directed by Dimitris Michas, the orchestra will perform in the light of the full moon, while the museum will stay open until midnight, with free entrance to the exhibitions from 20.00 onwards. The restaurant and the café will also stay open.
The event is part of the annual August Full Moon celebration, organized throughout Greece by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sport since 2002. Many events will take place in the week leading up to the evening, while museums and archeological sites will open their doors during the full moon, and offer free entrance.
