Small in size but big in things to do, see and taste, Leonidio is a seaside town that is staunchly proud of its heritage. The local dialect with its roots in ancient Doric is still used to this day in everyday speech as well as for signposting. The town’s impressive old architecture has been preserved for visitors to admire. Apart from the unusual red limestone which surrounds the town, the area is also famous for another distinct production – the sweet Tsakonian eggplant which is well worth a try.
