Jan Fabre Appointed Greek Festival Artistic Director

The Belgian artist is expected to unveil his plans for the annual festival in an upcoming visit to Athens.

Belgium’s Jan Fabre has been appointed artistic director of the Greek Festival, the Greek Ministry of Culture said in a statement released on Wednesday.

Born in Antwerp in 1958, Fabre is a multifaceted artist whose activities range from playwright to stage director, choreographer and designer. He studied at his home town’s Municipal Institute of Decorative Arts and the Royal Academy of Fine Arts.

Fabre replaces Giorgos Loukos who held the position of artistic director until his dismissal in December.

The new artistic director was expected to unveil his plans for the annual festival in an upcoming visit to Athens, the ministry said.
