Tucked away in the heart of Irakleio, just steps from the city’s buzzing square, lies a space that feels more like a curated retreat than a boutique. Nomad Concept Store isn’t the kind of place you stumble upon, it’s the kind of place you remember. Founded by Roberta Batochio, a former international lawyer turned style curator, Nomad blends effortless elegance with soulful storytelling.
Every piece inside this sun-drenched space – from fluid linen dresses and delicate jewelry to artisanal accessories – has been handpicked with care, reflecting Roberta’s deep appreciation for craftsmanship, Greek design, and timeless fashion. To walk into Nomad is to slow down, discover, and connect not just with beautiful objects, but with the stories they carry.
Before Nomad became a destination for design lovers in Crete, it was an idea born of movement – across countries, careers, and perspectives. Roberta Batochio, the woman behind the store’s effortless elegance, once lived a very different life, one defined by corporate law, international trade agreements, and a fast-paced rhythm that spanned New York, Milan, and São Paulo.
But something never quite fit. “I always felt like a nomad,” she says. “I didn’t belong to any one place. I’ve always been drawn to cultures, textures, stories, not just the legal structures behind them.”
At 39, she made a bold choice. Leaving behind the security of her legal career, she arrived in Chania, Crete, with three suitcases and a clear desire: to live more intentionally. To create something meaningful with her hands, her eyes, and her heart. It was there, while walking the sunlit streets of the old town, that the name Nomad came to her.
“Nomad isn’t just a brand – it’s who I am. It’s how I see life. Always moving, always exploring, always choosing beauty with purpose.”
This mindset is at the heart of the store she would later open in Irakleio – a space designed to feel more like a soulful collection than a commercial enterprise. Every item is chosen by Roberta herself, with a sharp focus on quality, intention, and emotion. It’s not about following trends; it’s about following feelings.

Step through the arched doorway at Plateia Eleftheriou Venizelou 13 and you’ll immediately understand what makes Nomad more than just a concept store. The light-filled space, with its mix of natural textures, soft hues, and clean lines, feels like a secret world curated for the aesthetically curious. Although it’s within walking distance of Irakleio’s main square, it feels incredibly removed from the bustle of the city.
Inside, a curated mix of Greek and international designers awaits: elegant, timeless, and quietly bold. You’ll find pieces by Kori, with its signature Mediterranean minimalism; flowing silhouettes from Pearl & Caviar that echo the geometry of the islands; and handcrafted jewelry from Hermina Athens, steeped in myth and modernity. Alongside them, collections by Maria de la Orden, Milla, Yiorgos Koulasidis, and August create a visual dialogue between cultures, all filtered through Roberta’s intuitive eye.
Each piece in Nomad has been personally selected by Roberta not just for how it looks, but for how it makes you feel. There’s a quiet emphasis on craftsmanship, sustainability, and timeless appeal. Nothing is rushed or mass-produced. Every item invites you to slow down, touch the fabric, ask about the designer, feel the story behind it.
Because Nomad isn’t about shopping, it’s about discovering. It’s a space where Greek fashion meets the world, and where travellers connect to culture not through postcards or keychains, but through the textures, cuts, and memories they carry home in a suitcase.

What makes Nomad unforgettable isn’t just the curated collections, it’s the way the space makes you feel. There’s an ease to the experience, a slowness that invites you to pause, explore, and connect. Roberta is often there, welcoming guests not as customers but as fellow travelers, ready to share stories behind a dress, a necklace, or a handmade basket.
Whether you’re drawn to breezy kaftans that echo the Cretan summer or delicate earrings that carry the weight of myth, every item is easy to wear, effortless to pack, and destined to be worn again and again. Thoughtful, lightweight, and rich in character, these are souvenirs that last.
Nomad isn’t just a place to shop. It’s a place to find pieces that reflect who you are – or who you’re becoming. So if you find yourself in Irakleio, follow the light down Eleftheriou Venizelou Square.
Step inside. And let your style journey begin.
