Acropolis Lighting Wins Prestigious Award

Eleftheria Deko & Associates receive the LIT honour for best showcasing "the most important monument of Western Civilization."

Greece’s Minister of Culture Lina Mendoni has awarded the LIT Lighting Design Award for the lighting of the Acropolis to Eleftheria Deko & Associates, in a ceremony at the Acropolis Museum.

The LIT Award was created to recognize the efforts of talented international lighting product designers and lighting implementers.

At the ceremony, Mendoni said, “The lighting now highlights the entire Sacred Rock, the Walls, the volume, the geometry of each monument, from every possible point of view. The marbles, whiter than ever, reflect the natural material, exalt every aspect, every shape, and emphasize the relief of the decoration of every monument.”

The minister added that “The new lighting is gaining international recognition by art and lighting experts worldwide. The light of the Acropolis travels all over the world. It highlights the most important monument of Western Civilization. It showcases the cultural heritage of our country. It showcases Greece.”

The lighting of the Acropolis was sponsored and implemented by the Onassis Cultural Foundation, under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture and Sports.
