Full Moon Tango at the Acropolis Museum

The Acropolis Museum will offer free entrance after 8 pm and an evening of tango and live music, in celebration of the full moon on August 1st.

The Acropolis Museum is hosting a special “Tango Acropolis” event on August 1st, 2023, to celebrate the August full moon. The event, beginning at 9 pm in the museum’s entrance courtyard, promises an evening of exceptional tango performances and live music.

The line-up includes performances from internationally acclaimed tango dancers and a live music session by the Orchestra “Con Estilo Tango.” The orchestra will pay homage to legendary musicians from the Golden Age such as Astor Piazzola, Osvaldo Pugliese, and Juan d’Arienzo. The courtyard will also become a temporary dance floor, inviting professional and amateur tango dancers from the public to participate. The performance features musicians such as Nikos Papadimitriou on piano, Lefteris Grivas on bandoneon, and Lia Selalmazidi on violin. Furthermore, the event is entirely free to attend.

In addition, the museum will extend its hours until midnight on this day, offering free entry from 8 pm onwards. Visitors can appreciate the Acropolis under the moonlight and explore the museum’s galleries. The second-floor restaurant remains open during the extended hours (for dinner reservations, please call: Tel. (+30) 210.900.0915).

The “Tango Acropolis” event is organized with the support of the Embassy of Argentina, offering a vibrant blend of music, dance, and culture.
