Four exceptional hotels, four different experiences: an award-winning hotel-maison that has breathed new life into a historic mansion on Mitropoleos Street; a boutique club-maison in Vouliagmeni with just 34 rooms and suites; an expansive seaside resort on a private peninsula in Corfu; and a landmark of Cretan hospitality that is inextricably linked to the history of Grecotel itself and the town of Rethymno.
For another year, Grecotel earned more accolades than any other Greek hotel company at the Condé Nast Traveller Readers’ Choice Awards 2026. The Dolli, The Roc Club, Corfu Imperial and Creta Palace secured places among Greece’s top ten hotels and resorts for 2026. Together, they show how Grecotel has stayed successful by taking on different identities while continuing to set the standard.
The Dolli, recognized by Condé Nast readers for the fourth consecutive year, is a case in point. Designed by Andreas Kriezis, the Kallimasiotis Mansion, familiar to generations of Athenians as the home of the Chytiroglou stores, began its second chapter almost four years ago as a luxury boutique hotel. Preserving its connection to the past, it introduced a hospitality concept to the city’s historic center that has become an international case study. This year, it was once again the highest-ranked hotel in Athens in both the UK and US Readers’ Choice Awards, and the only hotel in Greece to place in the top three of both rankings. It has been recognized since its very first year of operation, and this year it was also named best city hotel in Athens and fifth best in Europe at Travel + Leisure’s World’s Best Awards 2026. It also kept its two Michelin Keys for a second consecutive year.

The Roc Club in Vouliagmeni, the second Athenian property on the list, is a notable new entry in this year’s rankings. With just 34 rooms and suites, views of the peninsula and marina, the striking Roc Pool and the new Rocket Bar, it has the intimate scale and feel of a private seaside club. It offers a more personal stay on the Athens Riviera, where it has already become a landmark.
“Crete is our home,” Nikos Daskalantonakis said at Grecotel’s grand 50th-anniversary celebration at the Fortezza fortress in Rethymno in September 2025. As Kathimerini reported at the time, he was joined by three generations of his family, employees, business partners and friends. The choice of venue was appropriate: the anniversary was celebrated where the group’s story began, also honoring the people who had been part of it. A strong connection to place is central to Grecotel’s philosophy and it is expressed in many different ways through its hotels across Greece.

Corfu Imperial, on the Kommeno peninsula, draws its character from the island’s landscape and aristocratic heritage. Its villas, palazzi and connection to the sea create a distinctive, dreamlike world, synonymous with luxury hospitality in the Ionian. Its latest accolade reaffirms its enduring place among Greece’s leading resorts.
In Rethymno, Creta Palace, a destination resort closely associated with authentic Cretan hospitality and Grecotel’s history, has been recognized by Condé Nast Traveller readers for the second consecutive year. The honor comes at a milestone moment, as the resort opened for the season fully refreshed following an extensive renovation.

These accolades follow Grecotel’s recognition as Luxury Hotel Company of the Year at the TTG Luxury Travel Awards 2026 for the second consecutive year, and as Luxury Hotel Brand of the Year at the Aspire Awards 2025. But the awards are only part of the story. The larger achievement is that a major hotel group can create something different at each property while keeping the qualities that link them all: a sense of place, attention to detail and a human touch. That may be Grecotel’s most lasting signature, more than half a century after it began in Crete.
